I think I saw maybe 1 person relaxing in one of the pool chairs during my entire stay. It used to work on longer stays like you said. We went during the pandemic, when tourism was halted and was just starting to pick up. Hyatt is actively trying to come up with a solution for the lack of food & beverage at the Centric. The equipment is new, but limited, with a small handful of strength training equipment and plenty of cardiovascular machines. Water stations are located on the 7th and 19th floor. We have picked this hotel for two separate week long trips. Because this hotel was repurposed, it does not feature any lanais (balconies), which is one of the biggest drawbacks to staying here. Hyatt Regency is a little more expensive but the location is even better, right across from the beach and walking distance to more malls, restaurants, etc. The Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is located about a 5-minute walk from the beach, and about 2 blocks to the nearest access point. Hyatt Place is a solid, cheaper choice with a good location close to the beach. If ever we return with our family, a stay at the Hyatt Place at 12,000 points per night that could easily fit 5 of us will do just fine.
